3.5" Partial Reel of Original 16mm Film Stock
Nudist Colony in the South of France
    Filmed by Alexander Baege
    ~ Late 1950s ~
Rare, original 16mm film footage of a
nudist retreat in the South of France. This is likely the island known as
    Ile du Levant
. Filmed by noted German photographer Alexander Baege around 1958 to 1959. This small reel comes from a collection of Baege's nudist 16mm films discovered in an old Los Angeles storage unit. This particular reel measures 3.5 inches and is partially full as shown. Unsure of the total time/length. Filmed in AGFA color. Hand-written notes are in German. There's some dust on the film but otherwise Excellent Condition. Photos taken from most of the reel.
Please note that the film is in three long sections. The pieces are wound together on the reel and will need to be spliced together before viewing. These aren't breaks in the film...just various sections of original nudist film footage kept together. The subject matter is diverse and shows different individuals enjoying various activities on the island retreat.
    Alexander Baege
was born in 1927 in Merseberg, Germany and died in Los Angeles in 1999.
For most of his career he worked out of Wiesbaden, Germany taking wonderful nudist images in French Nudist locations such as Helio-Marin in Montalivet.
In the 1950s and 60s his work was widely published in German nudist magazines such as Helios and Sonnefreunde. This led to further publication in several leading American nudist magazines which were booming at that time. He moved to the USA and made a travel documentary about his coast to coast trip called
    Traumwelt in Ubersee
(1966). He ended his career working as a travel guide in L.A. and died there, his work mostly forgotten, on May 12th. 1999.
Plastic Reel & Canister Measures 3.5 Inches.
In Excellent Vintage Condition: Partially Full w/ Three Long Sections.
