vintage sports glass measures approximately 5 1/2" tall and just shy of 3" wide at the mouth, with a very thick base. This
rare
black and cream-colored sports glass features outstanding graphics with fine and detailed artwork of
Luis Aparicio
, along with an image of old
Comiskey Park
in Chicago, Illinois. The "1959" date is emblazoned onto a baseball (see fifth photo). There are also two (2) baseball player figures on left and right of the baseball motif.   <>
History
: the 1959
Chicago White Sox
won the American League pennant that season, the first since the Black Sox scandal of 1919. The Sox lost to the L.A. Dodgers in the World Series. The offered glass was a part of a set of twelve player-glasses that were issued. The Luis Aparicio glass is considered by many to be one of the more difficult to find, especially since he was one of the team's stars.
